Music at Lalith Mahal Palace

Lalith Mahal Palace Hotel, Mysore

There is news from Mysore, where I was born.

I was there two months ago, for a thanksgiving prayer at Chamundi Hills, whereafter we went down to the Lalith Mahal Palace Hotel for lunch. They played light music from old Hindi films, with serious classical instruments. The neighborhood of the hotel is still very quiet, and that is the lingering memory of Mysore for me, as a quiet place in spite of its growth. I found it hard to imagine the scene of the two elephants tearing around town in panic, and the tragedy.
