Happy Birthday

Waiting for the table to fill up at the Taj, Bangalore
On my birthday, I have greetings in my laptop and handphone from the computers of a hotel I haunt; from the computer-servers of Bigflix; from AppleInsider and mouthshut and Webshots and a big blogger network. A sales-lady called from a restaurant I avoid, to know if she should book a table for me for tonight. I declined, but politely. Some colleagues shook hands but many know my discomfort and stayed clear; an old colleague called early morning; another colleague from long ago sent a mail. Sujaya wished me awake; within minutes after Sujaya, Yashas called from Hassan and Sowmya and Bharat and Ambar called me while I was driving to work; my mother and sister wished me at the door. Families of friends remembered me by evening. An uncle who hadn't got through in the morning called at night and was so gracious.
Sujaya took me out for breakfast. We dined in, and I ate two slices of a date n’ apple cake my sister baked.
Thank you, dear servers and friends.
