To Bangkok

I'm going to Bangkok tomorrow and I'll stay there four days. The guidebook shows pictures of Buddhist monks, monasteries, Asian colors; the list of bars and pubs and restaurants is long indeed. Suggested shopping is for gems, and clothing. I will stay at a hotel on Sukhumvit Soi, which road the guidebook says is sleazy on the East side and expat-dominated on the West side. Thai massage, of course. Transvestite shows! Hmph! What am I seeking that is missing in the guidebook, and why am I so without excitement for this famous city? Maybe I'll know when in Bangkok. I'm going there to meet a potential customer, so let Bangkok be anything: I'm leaving in high anticipation of something big.

(I've only transited through Bangkok, several times)
